Surrounded by trees, a canopy of stars overhead and a moon in its natural phase. Sounds of night animals and a river source. All the elements play their part and respond to the weather that arrives that day. The air is crisp, the scent earthy, and the light comes from the moon or a flickering campfire. Welcome to Wakelyns Farm, our chosen place for your Nature Solo and Threshold experience. A place with a rich history that we will share with you on arrival. We don’t share links and encourage you not to research the place in advance because it puts you in your head rather than your body. We want you to overthink the place before you arrive so you can really delight in the present moment offered to you.

The Build Up
Away from the office, a physical tiredness sets in as you surrender to the natural environment. There are no distractions, nourishing food made from farm produce, a breath-filling country air. Your body walks and naturally becomes tired. You are acutely aware of your surroundings in a way that is new. The leaves, the hum of insects and the rhythm of your own breath. You may feel isolated in the quiet or touched by human and non-human communities which dot the landscape and have the farm buzzing in different ways in different seasons, including in Summer from the natural bees on site. No sugar honey hives here.There are no animals on this farm. It’s a unique place.
We may sit by a campfire or walk in the sun. The season will determine our pathway and experience. This allows you to enter a state of reflection that is relevant in this present moment. The boundary between your inner thoughts and the outer world blurs. You feel a profound connection to the natural environment as if you are a part of it rather than a visitor. The isolation strips away the superficial layers of your identity, revealing your core self. Depending on the time of year, we will have a campfire.

We begin by setting a clear intention which is usually done at a natural boundary or river crossing to enhance the experience. As you step over an invisible but felt sense line, a liminal space opens as you attune to the sights, sounds, and sensations around you. You will find yourself immersed fully in the moment, effortlessly observing what arises and embracing any challenges as part of your transformative experience, open to the lessons and messaging that nature offers.
When it’s time to leave, we invite practices that allow you to integrate aspects of your threshold experience into regular practice back home to maintain the peace and clarity you gained.
