I was introduced to war whilst developing in my mother’s womb. I held space with survivors who experienced destruction, violence, and migration.
They say it is courageous to be vulnerable and share our stories, but nothing feels courageous about a pounding heart and a racing mind deciphering through different traumas. Our lived experiences and memories are as real as this reality so dear humanity, please exercise empathy and compassion when vocalising your interpretations of what our existence means.
Voicing Voices hosts a wide range of conversations, interactions, and vulnerabilities, which require us to really be conscious of the intersectional layers of who we are and what we are living through as human beings.
My mother and I had a series of reflective conversations about our childhoods, life plans, the narratives centered around our intersectionality and how they show up in our day to day.
Our learning together is continuous and each time, I discover more about her generation’s journey, and I hope I give her hope that things are really changing for the generations to come.
We may be swimming through inequalities and injustices, but we are also the champions, transitional characters, and leaders of a more equitable world.
