Things have got bad for us, haven’t they?
We are becoming ever-polarised, suspicious, and distrustful of each other, individualism and domination are triumphing over love and compassion, with inequality and repression trumping fairness.
Some of us are chasing the dream of wealth and “success”, whilst others are chasing the dream of food on the table and shoes for the children. Others just trying to stay alive.
Either way, many of us have little time for each other. Little time for anything really, apart from that hamster wheel of life, endlessly pounding the steps chasing after the false dreams impregnated in our heads and hearts by the marketeers further fuelled by the disinformation manufactured by the media which is being burned into our brains.
All of this within the tight wrapper of the financial system which makes it so hard to step off that wheel and believe there is another way. But yet for a great many, there isn’t even a hamster wheel to get on – they are just trying to survive on a more literal level.
But it doesn’t have to be like this. There are no fundamental rules telling us that this is how it is.
Collaboration, compassion, and cohesion with each other and with nature are what our souls really yearn for and derive well-being from.
If only more of humanity – particularly those with the power, privilege, and wealth, could reach deep into themselves, and grasp these primordial feelings, emotions, and qualities – recognise that these are what we are – and if only we could bring them out of our inner being and place them in our heads and hearts shoving aside all the froth and veneer of modernity norms.
Might we dare to do this? How would we feel if we did? How would it affect others?
